Virgin Atlantic Challenger 2, the holder of the Atlantic crossing record is the ‘star’ attraction at the 2017 Cowes Powerboat Festival. It will perform the duty as start boat for the CTC event and seats are available on the craft for its trip from Plymouth, where it is based up to Cowes and we understand a limited number of seats are on offer as VAC2 starts the race.
While the famous boat is at Cowes, it will also make a guest appearance at the Sonny Levi Tribute Rally as Levi designed VAC2. The rally which will start from Yarmouth is open to all vintage vessels but particularly Levi designs. Hopefully funds can be raised to transport one of Sonny’s most coveted race boats, Surfury from its warehouse near Swindon to Cowes as this would be a great coup for the organisers of the tribute to the Italian maestro who passed away last year.
